Noomi Rapace and Millicent Simmonds Enter a Brutal Future in Dystopian Thriller ‘No Man’s Land’

Noomi Rapace (Prometheus) and Millicent Simmonds (A Quiet Place) are stepping into a nightmare vision of the future with No Man’s Land, a chilling new dystopian thriller from writer-director Vasilisa Kuzmina.

Described as “The Handmaid’s Tale” meets “Midsommar”, the film explores a world where women have survived a devastating civil war and built a society entirely without men — a fragile utopia on the brink of collapse.

Rapace stars as Magda, the enigmatic and iron-willed leader of this all-female community, while Simmonds plays Elle, one of her most devoted followers. But when Magda’s son unexpectedly returns from the front lines, his presence ignites paranoia, jealousy, and violence among the women — unraveling dark secrets about what they’ve done to protect their sanctuary.

Inspired by real historical horrors, No Man’s Land draws from the true story of the Angel Makers of Nagyrév — a group of Hungarian women in the early 1900s who poisoned dozens of abusive husbands under the guidance of a woman known as Auntie Suzy. Historians estimate their victim count between 50 and several hundred men.

Filming begins in Spain in April 2026, with production handled by Juliana Lubin and Frank Ariza’s AF Films, alongside Boom Films. Rapace also serves as executive producer, with Goodfellas managing global sales at the upcoming American Film Market.

Producer Frank Ariza describes the project as “one of the most creatively fulfilling experiences” of his career, promising a haunting blend of raw emotion and cinematic intensity:

No Man’s Land pushes boundaries and dares audiences to question power, morality, and survival. It’s bold, visceral, and deeply human — everything European horror should be.”

Between its real-world roots, feminist edge, and psychological dread, No Man’s Land looks poised to deliver a modern folk-horror masterpiece — one that asks how far humanity will go when vengeance becomes survival.
