New ‘Faces of Death’ Poster Teases Disturbing Reimagining

Published

The meta remake of the notorious 1978 faux documentary Faces of Death is headed to theaters this spring. Independent Film Company and Shudder will unleash the reimagining on April 10, and the official poster has now been revealed.

Daniel Goldhaber (Cam) directs from a screenplay he co-wrote with Isa Mazzei (Cam), bringing a modern, internet-age twist to the franchise’s infamous “Is it real or not?” legacy.

Barbie Ferreira (“Euphoria”) leads the film as a content moderator for a major video platform who begins uncovering what appear to be reenactments of murders tied to Faces of Death. As the disturbing clips pile up, she’s forced to determine whether the violence is staged — or happening in real time.

The cast also includes Dacre Montgomery (“Stranger Things”), Josie Totah (“Saved by the Bell”), Jermaine Fowler (Sorry to Bother You), Aaron Holliday (Cocaine Bear), and Charli XCX.

RLJE acquisition officer Mark Ward reflected on the original film’s impact, noting that the infamous VHS box haunted an entire generation and praising Goldhaber’s reimagining as a powerful full-circle moment for the property.

Faces of Death is rated R for strong bloody violence and gore, sexual content, nudity, language, and drug use. The teaser trailer has already been released, with the full trailer expected soon.
