Mike Flanagan’s ‘The Exorcist’ Adds Sasha Calle to Expanding Cast
The cast of director Mike Flanagan’s The Exorcist continues to expand. According to Deadline, Sasha Calle (The Flash) is the latest addition to the upcoming possession horror.
Per the report, Calle’s role is being kept tightly under wraps, along with key plot details for the film, which is written and directed by Flanagan and currently shooting in New York City.
Universal Pictures has slated Flanagan’s The Exorcist for a theatrical release on March 12, 2027.

The growing ensemble cast includes:

- Laurence Fishburne
- Jacobi Jupe
- Diane Lane
- Chiwetel Ejiofor
The project will tell an all-new story set within The Exorcist universe. It is neither a remake of William Friedkin’s 1973 horror classic nor a direct sequel to 2023’s The Exorcist: Believer.
Flanagan is producing through his Red Room Pictures banner alongside Jason Blum for Blumhouse–Atomic Monster and David Robinson for Morgan Creek Entertainment. Executive producers include Alexandra Magistro for Red Room and Ryan Turek for Blumhouse.
How Scary Will Flanagan’s Film Be?
Flanagan has previously teased ambitious goals for the project.
“This is an opportunity to do something that I believe has never been done within the franchise — something that honors what came before it but isn’t built on nostalgia,” the filmmaker said. “I really just saw an opportunity to make the scariest movie I’ve ever made. I know expectations are high. No one’s more intimidated than I am.”
