Mia Goth Joins Director of Anatomy of a Fall for Dark New Thriller ‘Fonda’
Oscar and Palme d’Or winner Justine Triet (Anatomy of a Fall) is making her full English-language debut with the psychological thriller Fonda, Deadline reports.
Mia Goth (Frankenstein) leads the cast alongside Andrew Scott (All of Us Strangers), Frank Dillane (Fear the Walking Dead), and Nathan Stewart-Jarrett (Candyman 2021). Allison Janney (I, Tonya) is in talks for a key role, with more casting expected in the coming months.
Set in a seemingly idyllic, claustrophobic environment, Fonda “dives into the shifting limits of a sound mind as grief and obsession take hold,” according to the official logline—promising a tense, vertiginous exploration of psychological terror.
The project reunites Triet with Marie-Ange Luciani (Les Films de Pierre) and David Thion (Les Films Pelléas), who produced Anatomy of a Fall, alongside mk2 Films, which is handling international sales. Studiocanal comes on board as co-producer and financier, covering key territories including France, Germany, Italy, Benelux, Poland, Australia, and New Zealand.
“Fonda promises to take audiences deep into the human psyche and emerge as a thriller of rare intelligence and emotional force,” said mk2 Managing Director Fionnuala Jamison. Studiocanal CEO Anna Marsh added, “Justine Triet’s cinematic vision is incomparable, and with this exceptional cast, we knew we had to be part of her formidable return to cinema.”
Filming for Fonda is slated to begin this spring. Horror and thriller fans should keep an eye out for casting updates and the first glimpses of the film.
