An ancient demon older than recorded history is unleashed in Lily’s Ritual, a practical effects–driven Spanish folk horror film inspired by the myth of Lilith, the legendary she-demon.
The newly released trailer teases a blood-soaked descent that feels like The Craft colliding with Evil Dead, filtered through the sun-drenched dread of Midsommar.
Set during the autumn equinox of 1999 in Madrid, the film centers on Lily, a pale, introverted young woman who joins a group of friends on a trip to a secluded forest cabin. What begins as an initiation into witchcraft quickly spirals into something far darker.
As night falls and the ritual gets underway, Lily collapses in the middle of the ceremony. She later awakens bound, wounded, and completely alone—unaware that the coven’s true intention was never initiation at all. Lily has been marked as the sacrifice.
But the ceremony doesn’t go according to plan. A demonic laugh cuts through the forest, trust fractures among the group, and long-buried secrets claw their way to the surface. The ritual turns savagely against those who attempted to control it, unleashing a malevolent force that refuses to be contained.
Directed by Manu Herrera from a script co-written with Javier Fernández Moratalla, Lily’s Ritual digs into themes of blind faith, manipulation, and the horrific consequences of devotion without question.
The film stars Maggie García, Patricia Peñalver, Eve Ryan, Elena Gallardo, Mike Fajardo, and Antea Rodríguez.
Lily’s Ritual is slated for release later this year, with Black Mandala handling international sales.
