Brace yourself: the flesh-peeling trailer for Lee Cronin (Evil Dead Rise)‘s The Mummy has arrived, and it’s a full-on descent into terror.

The story follows a journalist whose young daughter vanishes into the desert without a trace. Eight years later, the family is shocked when she mysteriously returns—but what should be a joyful reunion quickly twists into a living nightmare.

Cronin’s twisted retelling of the classic monster tale hits theaters and IMAX on April 17 via Warner Bros, promising a nightmarish journey you won’t forget.

The cast includes Jack Reynor (Midsommar), Laia Costa (The Wheel of Time), May Calamawy (Moon Knight), Natalie Grace (1923), and Veronica Falcón (Ozark).

Reuniting with his Evil Dead Rise crew, Cronin brings back cinematographer Dave Garbett, production designer Nick Bassett, editor Bryan Shaw, and composer Stephen McKeon to craft a tense, blood-soaked vision of horror.

“This is a very different kind of Mummy movie,” Cronin teased. “It’s almost one part Poltergeist, one part Seven—but through my lens, and the way I like to terrify and entertain people.”

Produced by James Wan, Jason Blum, and John Keville under Blumhouse-Atomic Monster and New Line Cinema, with Cronin executive producing alongside Michael Clear, Judson Scott, and Macdara Kelleher, The Mummy promises a nightmarish resurrection of a classic horror icon—and a body count to match.
