‘Key of Bones: Curse of the Ghost Pirate’ Reveals Lead Cast as Production Haunts Key West

Filmmaker and producer Tony Armer has confirmed that Key of Bones: Curse of the Ghost Pirate will be shot entirely in Key West, Florida starting January 2026—something that hasn’t been done in more than two decades. While movies and shows occasionally swing through the island for a scene or two, no full-length feature has committed to Key West’s eerie, sun-bleached landscape in recent memory.

Blending supernatural horror, pirate lore, and the strange energy that makes the Keys feel haunted even in daylight, the film follows a local waitress, a ghost-tour guide, and an unlucky tourist who accidentally trigger a centuries-old curse tied to the notorious pirate Anne Bonny. What follows is chaos, comedy, and spectral mayhem spreading across America’s southernmost paradise.

The production has locked in its three leads—each with serious genre pedigree.

Gina Vitori (The Salem Chronicles, Monster, Ahsoka) stars as Mary Read, bringing sharp charisma to the film’s supernatural showdown.

Melissa Chick (Landman, Lioness) steps into the role of Anne Bonny, channeling the ferocity of the legendary pirate whose ghost ignites the story.

Jeremy King (Scare Package, Bad Monkey, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest) joins as Christie, adding cult-favorite horror energy to the mix.

Behind the camera is cinematographer Brandon D. Hyde, known for atmospheric visuals and a keen eye for moody, coastal storytelling. His style is set to transform Key West into a spectral playground of cursed relics and restless spirits.

Armer—award-winning filmmaker, industry veteran, and Head of Production for Talon Entertainment—returns to familiar territory. Having lived and worked in the Keys years ago, he calls Key West one of his favorite cinematic backdrops. “It’s such a unique and beautiful place,” Armer said. “This fun horror-comedy felt like the perfect way to finally bring it to the screen.”

The production will shoot fully on location and plans to hire crew and cast locally, pulling in the island’s real culture to ground the supernatural chaos.

Key of Bones: Curse of the Ghost Pirate is written and directed by Tony Armer and produced with iHorror, marking the brand’s first step into feature filmmaking. Executive Producers include Steve Demmler, Mark Rankin, Dr. Robert Nucci, and James Marcus. Producers are Anthony Pernicka, Cameron Brumbelow, Chuck Ardezzone, and Mark Pulaski.

iHorror founder Anthony Pernicka, serving as producer, says the film embodies the brand’s spirit: “Key of Bones captures the kind of imaginative, fan-driven storytelling our audience loves. Bringing that to a full-length film shot in such an iconic place is incredibly exciting.”

Filming begins soon—follow along for behind-the-scenes updates as this ghost-ridden adventure rises from the Key West sands.
