‘Keeper’ Slapped with R for Gore and Brutal Violence

Published

on

Neon’s latest descent into darkness, Keeper, has officially scored an R rating for “violent content/gore, language, and some sexual references” — and we wouldn’t want it any other way.

From the twisted mind of Osgood Perkins (Longlegs, The Blackcoat’s Daughter), Keeper creeps into theaters November 14. This marks his third collaboration with Neon in just two years, and if his recent work is any sign, expect a slow-burn screamfest soaked in dread.

Tatiana Maslany (Orphan Black) and Rossif Sutherland (Possessor) lead the cast as a couple celebrating their anniversary at a remote cabin. But when Malcolm (Sutherland) suddenly bails back to the city, Liz (Maslany) is left alone—until the isolation unravels into something far more sinister. What lurks in the cabin isn’t just loneliness… it’s unspeakable evil, and it’s ready to make itself known.

The script, penned by Nick Lepard (Dangerous Animals), has been kept tightly under wraps, only fueling the unease. Neon isn’t showing their cards — but that’s only amping the horror hype.

If Perkins keeps up this pace, Keeper could be another chilling entry in what’s fast becoming one of the most unsettling horror filmographies of the decade.
