Horror Titan James Wan Producing ‘Doomtown,’ Penned by Texas Chainsaw Massacre Writer
Divide/Conquer — the horror-hit machine behind M3GAN, Freaky, Heart Eyes, Totally Killer, and The Black Phone 2 — has locked in a first-look deal with Blumhouse and James Wan’s Atomic Monster, setting the stage for a new wave of genre mayhem.
Their first project under the deal is Doomtown, a high-concept survival horror film scripted by Chris Thomas Devlin, the writer who gave us Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2022) and Cobweb. Plot details are buried for now, but insiders whisper that James Wan has expressed interest in directing. Wan’s team denies it… which, in horror, usually means the opposite.
Regardless, Wan is officially on board as a producer, joining Divide/Conquer’s Adam Hendricks and Greg Gilreath. Michael Clear, Ingrid Bisu, and Judson Scott are executive producing, with Alayna Glasthal overseeing the project for Atomic Monster.
Clear teased the tone of the film, calling Devlin’s script “smart, eerie, and full of ideas”—a promising setup for a story that’s being tightly guarded.
Divide/Conquer’s relationship with Blumhouse runs deep, dating back to the Sundance Creative Producing Lab where Jason Blum mentored the pair over a decade ago. The companies now aim to expand their shared horror slate, with Divide/Conquer positioning itself as a home for bold, emerging genre voices.
And Doomtown isn’t the only collaboration brewing. Divide/Conquer and Blumhouse are also teaming up on Anything But Ghosts, the feature debut of Milk & Serial director Curry Barker.
More Doomtown details are expected soon—once the bodies hit the ground.
