Deep in the woods, an ancient witch waits—and the first teaser for Damian McCarthy’s horror thriller Hokum proves she is not to be trifled with.

The film, from the writer-director of Oddity, hits theaters May 1, 2026 via Neon.

Adam Scott (Severance) stars as reclusive novelist Ohm Bauman, who retreats to a remote Irish inn to scatter his parents’ ashes. When the inn staff spin chilling tales of a witch haunting the honeymoon suite, Ohm’s mind begins to unravel. Disturbing visions and a shocking disappearance pull him into a nightmarish confrontation with both the supernatural and his own haunted past.

The cast also features Peter Coonan (The Alienist: Angel of Darkness), David Wilmot (Station Eleven), Florence Ordesh (Departure), Will O’Connell (Game of Thrones), and Michael Patric (Frontier), all bringing their own intensity to McCarthy’s chilling tale.

Produced by Roy Lee (Weapons) and Steven Schneider (Insidious) of Spooky Pictures alongside Image Nation’s Derek Dauchy, Tailored Film’s Ruth Treacy, Julianne Forde, Mairtín de Barra, and Cweature Features’ Ken Kao and Josh Rosenbaum, the film also boasts executive producers Ben Ross, Dan Kagan, Rami Yasin, and Andrew Childs, promising a tightly woven horror experience.

With its eerie atmosphere, creeping dread, and nightmarish visuals, Hokum looks set to haunt audiences long after the credits roll.
