Chris Stuckmann’s Shelby Oaks Hits Digital — Physical Release Creeps In This January

Published

on

YouTube horror critic–turned–filmmaker Chris Stuckmann has officially unleashed his feature debut, and it’s already crawling its way into homes. Shelby Oaks is now available on Digital, where you can rent it for $9.99 or own it for $19.99 — but the real physical nightmare arrives January 6, when NEON drops the Blu-ray and DVD.

And this release comes packed with a lot of creepy extras.

Blu-ray & DVD Special Features

  • Audio commentary with writer/director Chris Stuckmann
  • The Making of Shelby Oaks – full 6-part behind-the-scenes documentary
  • 4 episodes of the in-universe series “Paranormal Paranoids”
  • The Final Tape
  • Crime scene photo gallery
  • Hidden surprises (yes, actual hidden features)
  • …and more nightmare fuel

A Blair Witch–Style Descent Into Found Footage Terror

Compared to The Blair Witch Project and Hereditary, Shelby Oaks blends a grounded narrative with unsettling found-footage fragments. The story follows a documentary film crew digging into a woman’s frantic hunt for her missing sister — a search that pulls them into a supernatural mystery controlled by something unseen and very much malicious.

The cast includes Camille Sullivan, Brendan Sexton III, Keith David, Robin Bartlett, Michael Beach, Sarah Durn, and Derek Mears.

The Most Backed Horror Movie in Kickstarter History

Raising over $1.3 million, Shelby Oaks stands as the highest-funded horror film in Kickstarter history. After the campaign blew up, horror heavyweight Mike Flanagan boarded the project as executive producer through Intrepid Pictures.

Early Reactions

Reviewer Joe Lipsett praised the movie’s atmosphere, saying the eerie cabin sequences and strong first hour prove that Stuckmann is a horror filmmaker worth keeping your eyes on — even if the ending wobbles.

With its mix of mystery, occult dread, and found-footage chaos, Shelby Oaks is ready to haunt anyone brave enough to hit play.
