‘FNaF 2’ Featurette Summons the Marionette from the Shadows

What’s the creepiest presence haunting Five Nights at Freddy’s 2? For much of the cast and crew, the crown of pure nightmare fuel belongs to the Marionette.

First whispered into existence in the original film’s post-credits tease, the nightmarish puppet finally steps into the spotlight in a new featurette—ready to slip back into your dreams whether you invited it or not.

“I’m very excited for everyone to see the Marionette,” says returning director Emma Tammi, working once again from a script by FNaF creator Scott Cawthon.

Based on the massively popular game series, the sequel creeps into theaters December 5, courtesy of Universal and Blumhouse.

A full year has passed since the supernatural carnage at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza. The truth has been swallowed up by small-town mythmaking, twisted into a kitschy legend that inspires the town’s first-ever Fazfest. But beneath the celebration lies a rot no one wants to name.

Former security guard Mike and officer Vanessa have kept the darker truths buried from Mike’s 11-year-old sister, Abby—especially the fate of her animatronic “friends.”

But when Abby slips away to reconnect with Freddy, Bonnie, Chica, and Foxy, she unknowingly cracks open a long-sealed vault of horrors. What follows is a chain reaction of terror that dredges up the twisted origins of Freddy’s… and awakens something ancient, forgotten, and hungry.

Josh Hutcherson, Elizabeth Lail, Piper Rubio, Theodus Crane, and Matthew Lillard return, joined by Freddy Carter, Wayne Knight, Mckenna Grace, Skeet Ulrich, and Megan Fox.

Once again, Jim Henson’s Creature Shop brings the animatronics to uncanny life.

Cawthon produces with Jason Blum, with Tammi, Beatriz Sequeira, Christopher Warner, Russell Binder, and Marc Mostman executive producing.

The first Five Nights at Freddy’s shattered records as 2023’s highest-grossing horror film, opening to $80 million and scaring up nearly $300 million worldwide.
