Secrets, suspicion, and a mysterious intruder collide in The Knife, a psychological thriller co-written and executive produced by Creep’s Mark Duplass.

Directed by former NFL star Nnamdi Asomugha—making his feature debut behind the camera—the film is set to hit theaters on August 15, courtesy of Relativity Media and Inaugural Entertainment.

The Knife follows Chris, a hardworking construction worker determined to build a better life for his family. But everything begins to unravel when a strange woman appears in their home late one night. Moments later, she’s found unconscious on the kitchen floor with a knife in her hand—and no clear explanation of how or why she got there.

Detective Carlsen is called in to investigate, and what starts as a home invasion quickly spirals into a tangled web of secrets, lies, and blurred realities. As Chris and his family close ranks to protect themselves, the truth becomes harder to hold onto—and far more dangerous.

The film stars Nnamdi Asomugha alongside Academy Award winner Melissa Leo (The Fighter), Aja Naomi King (How to Get Away with Murder), Manny Jacinto (The Good Place), Amari Price, and Aiden Price.

Produced by iAm21 Entertainment and Duplass Brothers Productions, The Knife had its world premiere at last year’s Tribeca Film Festival, where it drew praise for its taut storytelling and simmering tension.
