The exact title of David Gordon Green’s upcoming reboot of The Exorcist, which is a sequel to the original classic, was revealed last night at CinemaCon. The movie’s first trailer, which was also presented to CinemaCon attendees last night, isn’t online, but THR has released a synopsis of the material.

The return of original The Exorcist star Ellen Burstyn, who will be recreating her 1973 performance as Chris MacNeil, was highlighted in the first-look clip shown at CinemaCon.

The Exorcist: Believer begins after the Devil takes over the bodies of two children, according to The Hollywood Reporter’s review. A father drops off his daughter at school in the trailer, but she and a buddy disappear after school. When they are discovered in the woods, they appear altered and don’t realize they were gone for three days; they think they were gone for only a few hours.

Another scene in the teaser shows one of the girls entering a church service while coated in communion wine and yelling at the priest, “The body and the blood!” The parents eventually make contact with Chris MacNeil (Ellen Burstyn, who is reprising her role from the first movie). She tries to assist the girls, one of whom has been inking the name of her daughter on her stomach.

Don’t bother looking for this The Exorcist: Believer trailer online because it is NOT accessible there. But we do anticipate official advertisements to start appearing online soon. Remain tuned.

For Universal, Blumhouse, and Morgan Creek, Gordon Green is helming the brand-new The Exorcist sequel, which will launch a brand-new trilogy. Leslie Odom Jr. will star in the trilogy’s opening picture, which will hit theaters on October 13, 2023.

Odom Jr. will portray the father of a child who is possessed, according to the first story details that were revealed to us last year. In search of assistance, he locates Ms. Burstyn’s persona.

Along with Olivia Marcum, other cast members include Ann Dowd (Hereditary), Lidya Jewett (Netflix’s Nightbooks), Raphael Sbarge (“Gaslit”), Jennifer Nettles (The Righteous Gemstones), and Raphael Sbarge.

The script for Believer was written by Peter Sattler (Broken Diamonds) and Gordon Green, and it is based on a story by Green, Scott Teems (Halloween Kills), and Danny McBride (Halloween).

Since the release of Dominion: Prequel to The Exorcist in 2005, a different take on Exorcist: The Beginning from the previous year, the Exorcist film series hasn’t been seen on a large screen. These movies followed The Exorcist II: The Heretic from 1977 and The Exorcist III from 1990.

In more recent times, “The Exorcist” was skillfully set in the same universe as the original classic in a short-lived television series at Fox that was surprisingly good.
