Eli Roth Teases New Film ‘Ice Cream Man’ as His Craziest Yet
Eli Roth is whipping up a brand-new, deeply twisted horror film with Ice Cream Man—and no, despite the shared title, it has nothing to do with the Clint Howard cult oddity from the 1990s. Speaking with Geek Vibes Nation to kick off 2026, Roth teases that this latest effort may be the most unhinged project of his career yet.
“I want this to be the craziest film I’ve ever made,” Roth says. “I want to outdo Hostel, The Green Inferno, and Cabin Fever in terms of bat-shit insanity. We just finished shooting, I’m in post right now, and while there’s no release date yet, we’re thinking maybe late summer. It’s totally insane.”
So what’s Ice Cream Man about? The film centers on a picture-perfect summer town that spirals into chaos after a local ice cream man begins serving children sweet treats with horrifying consequences.
Roth describes it as “The Birds with kids.”
“I filmed with a hundred kids going completely nuts with axes and tools,” he explains. “The kids kill all the adults, then they’re playing jump rope with the guts and tetherball with a head. We shot it over the summer, and honestly, it was one of the funniest, most insane experiences—it felt like Christmas morning.”
He adds, “You’ve never seen kids happier than when they’re covered in blood, running around with fake heads, bouncing on teeter-totters with headless bodies squirting blood. It was wild.”
Ari Millen (Orphan Black) stars in the title role, alongside Benjamin Byron Davis (Red Dead Redemption), Karen Cliche (Thanksgiving), Dylan Hawco, Sarah Abbott, Shiloh O’Reilly, Kiori Mirza Waldman, Charlie Zeltzer (The Handmaid’s Tale), and Charlie Storey.
Snoop Dogg—also collaborating with Roth on the upcoming Don’t Go in That House, Bitch—is contributing music to the film, alongside composer Brandon Roberts.
