Be careful what you wish for — you might actually get it.

Obsession, the latest horror offering from Milk & Serial filmmaker Curry Barker, hits theaters May 15 via Focus Features. Written and directed by Barker, the buzzy chiller turns a hopeless crush into a waking nightmare.

The story follows a lovesick romantic who breaks the mysterious One Wish Willow in a desperate attempt to win over his dream girl. His wish is granted — but as with any good Monkey’s Paw tale, the fine print is written in blood. What starts as fantasy fulfillment quickly spirals into something far more sinister, proving that some desires demand a brutal price.

The film stars Michael Johnston (Teen Wolf), Inde Navarrette (Superman & Lois), Cooper Tomlinson (Milk & Serial), Megan Lawless (The Girl from Plainville), and Andy Richter (Conan).

Behind the scenes, James Harris (Teashop Productions), Haley Nicole Johnson (Under the Shell), and Christian Mercuri & Roman Viaris (Capstone Pictures) produce. Executive producers include Jason Blum for Blumhouse, alongside Teashop’s Leonora Darby and Mark Lane, and Capstone’s David Haring and Ruzanna Kegeyan.

Obsession first made waves at the Toronto International Film Festival last year before screening at Fantastic Fest and Sitges, where it took home the coveted People’s Choice Award — not bad for a film drenched in blood and bad decisions.

Barker isn’t slowing down anytime soon. His next feature, Anything But Ghosts, is already in the works with Blumhouse and Spooky Pictures.

This May, Obsession invites you to make a wish — just don’t expect to survive it unscathed.
