‘Bad Hand’: Chloe Okuno Helm Horror Film Echoing ‘Idle Hands’
Horror fans, get ready: Chloe Okuno (V/H/S/94: Storm Drain, Watcher) is returning to the genre with Bad Hand, a new horror film that has shades of the ’90s dark comedy classic Idle Hands—though it’s not a remake. (Fun side note: Finn Wolfhard is actually set to helm the Idle Hands reboot!)
Deadline reports that Okuno will direct Bad Hand for Searchlight Pictures, from a script by April Wolfe (Black Christmas remake).
The story follows a mild-mannered kindergarten teacher who, just a week before her wedding, becomes the victim of a hit-and-run. In the aftermath, she discovers that her trauma has given her right hand a murderous will of its own—bent on bloody revenge.
Production is being handled by Elizabeth Banks, Max Handelman, and Alison Small through Brownstone Productions.
Okuno also has another horror project in the works: Brides, a NEON release now starring Olivia Cooke (originally attached: Maika Monroe). Brides follows Sally Bishop (Cooke) and her husband as they visit a remote Italian villa, where a mysterious count becomes obsessed with her.
Loosely inspired by Bram Stoker’s Dracula, Brides promises to invert the classic tale, exploring themes of societal repression versus carnal desire while delivering gothic, glamorous, and gory horror.
Stay tuned for updates on both Bad Hand, Brides, and all things Chloe Okuno.
