Huesera: The Bone Woman star Natalia Solián walks straight into hell in the trailer for Torment (Tormento), an indie supernatural nightmare that’s tearing up the Mexican box office.
Written and directed by filmmaker and influential podcaster Olallo Rubio, Torment has become one of 2025’s breakout genre hits. After opening in Mexico on November 13, it debuted at #4 and quickly claimed the title of the year’s second-biggest Mexican horror opening—surpassed only by Blumhouse’s No Me Sigas.
Solián plays an exhausted security guard reassigned to a morgue, where her very first night shift descends into madness. Alone in the cold, fluorescent corridors, she’s soon targeted by demons—both supernatural entities lurking in the shadows and personal horrors she thought she’d buried long ago. Rubio describes the film as “a nightmare within a nightmare… a storm shot with a realism not common in U.S. genre films.” He adds that Solián’s performance was essential: “If Natalia hadn’t accepted, I would’ve shelved the project.”
Based on Hugo J. Cardozo’s 2019 cult horror Morgue, the film also stars Hoze Meléndez, Fernando Banda, and Dolores Espinoza. Produced by BH5 Studios, distributed by Videocine, and represented internationally by FilmSharks, Torment is a single-location, shadow-drenched thriller filled with claustrophobic dread and a menacing figure stalking a sleep-deprived protagonist.
