Clive Barker’s Books of Blood are returning to book shelves this coming Halloween season, with Penguin Publishing Group reissuing Volumes 1-3 in time for spooky season.

This refreshed edition includes an introduction by Clive Barker and an all-new afterword by Grady Hendrix, who writes, “Barker has no patience with the status quo. He’s on the side of the monsters.” Check out the new release artwork down below.

Brimming with Barker’s signature blend of queerness, grotesquerie, cosmic awe, and myth-making, the new edition of Books of Blood is now available from Amazon and other retailers.

With the publication of Books of Blood, Clive Barker became an overnight literary sensation. His tour de force collection of brilliantly disturbing tales demonstrated a genius for dark invention that rivaled Poe and Sade. He was hailed by Stephen King as “the future of horror,” and won both the British and World Fantasy Awards.

Now, with his numerous bestsellers, graphic novels, and hit movies like the Hellraiser films, Clive Barker has become an industry unto himself. It is his powerful writing style and arresting imagery that have made Books of Blood a classic—and Clive Barker a cult phenomenon.

Stories included in Volumes 1-3 include The Midnight Meat Train, Dread, Rawhead Rex and Human Remains, as well as The Yattering and Jack, Pig Blood Blues, and Hell’s Event.
