The successor to their “horror punk” role-playing game Morbid: The Seven Acolytes, Morbid: The Lords of Ire, was unveiled last month by Merge Games and developer Still Running.

The Lords of Ire trailer, which stars Simo Talasranta, Writer, Composer, and Sound Designer at Still Running, walks viewers through the motivations behind the developers’ decision to switch from The Seven Acolytes’ pixel-based gameplay to a new 3D format and what gamers can anticipate from this new title. Of course, in addition to the blood.

The Gahars, the game’s enemies, make a second appearance in the narrative. You, the Striver of Dibrom, must once more thwart them. Once more, you’ll be the underdog forced to slay and scavenge your way through a tortured world full of Lovecraftian horrors and Cronenbergian gore.

You’ll be engaged in combat as you progress across the five worlds of Ire, which are revolting horror-punk settings inhabited by five distinct factions, ranging from icy mountains to repulsive cities and beyond. Kill the five Lords of Ire who have fallen and exile the Gahars.

In Morbid: The Lords of Ire, players will engage in a dynamic adventure that adapts to their choices thanks to an updated version of The Seven Acolytes’ Sanity System. Sanity offers unique benefits based on your choices and affects how adversaries respond to you, giving you a fresh, dynamic perspective on the Morbid universe.

The Lords of Ire is expected to launch on Steam in 2023.
